Project 08 | Complete

coffeekidAug 31, 2026

This month's turn out was a bit low, but given the time of year and the number of big changes that folks are juggling, it isn't a surprise. Even with the smaller number of projects, I enjoyed each and every project that was sent my way. From the pragmatic to the humorous, each one a success. If you're still working on something, feel free to send it over when you're ready. As always, many thanks for sticking with it!

-
CF | Cocytus Studies No. 8: Listen to the World Weep

-
KC | Clang

Materials: Bottle caps, jute, coconut milk can, pine cone, and hot glue

-
PD | Rubber

Materials: Plastic food container, 9 rubber bands, vox

-
JC | Twang

A nightmarish cross between the cigar box blues and a Chinese erhu, this shit sounds terrible and goes slack after about two plucks.

Materials: Small cardboard box, screws, wood, fishing line, nails, super glue

Listen: twaaaaaang (recorded inside the box)

-
CC | Rainmaker

Primitive Rain Maker (sounds more like the ocean though)

Materials: Trader Joe's cans, stash of random buttons, artist's tape

Watch: the rain

-
BG | Inner City Blues (Stand Clear of the Closing Doors)

The goal was to remix "Inner City Blues" by Marvin Gaye, incorporating sound effects from around the city. The warning on the MBTA to "stand clear of the closing doors" resonated particularly well with the message in the original song

Materials: Isolated audio track of Marvin Gaye singing "Inner City Blues", upright piano, bass guitar, ambient sfx captured around Boston, Garage Band
