Forbidden World (1982)

A Spaceship Captain answers a distress call from a science lab on an isolated planet to discover an experiment gone wrong is killing the inhabitants.
Oh err! Bit spicy this one! Not afraid to show a little bit of boob. Or bum. But yeah, I enjoyed this one. Very B-Movie and with the hallmarks of a low budget production but with clear focus and attention on making a good science fiction horror. Lot's of gloop, and gore, maybe a bit too much at times.
Storyline-wise it's kept fairly basic (mild spoilers); the experiment turned monster picks off most of the cast one by one, but it was kept interesting as the full extent of the creatures creation is only hinted at until near the end. And each scene builds on an event rather than it just awkwardly lumbering from one death to the next with no imagination.
Cinematography was also pretty decent, apart from a handful of action scenes where it got confusing and difficult to understand what was going on which I assume were shot that way to keep inside the budget. And the practical effects we're really good. Lot's of gloopy decomposing humans, lot's of blood, and flesh, but it all looked fairly convincing for the time. Really great soundtrack as well, although I am proper into the 80's synth sound and this was very of it's time.
Another Tubi movie this one, and at the moment the app that is fueling this blog cos it's just an Aladdin's Cave on kitsch B-Movies and I'm genuinely spoilt for choice! Really enjoy some 80's cinema as well so for me this scratched two itches. Not exactly a hidden cult classic or anything like that, but a decent little movie to kill an hour or so. Especially if you also like boobs.
